A. I am an advocate of long term planning. It takes skills to set a good long term goal. But by adhering to the following SMART approach, you will have a SMART Goal!
Specific
Set goals as specific as possible and answer the following questions: what is the goal? How often or how much? Where will it take place?
Measurable
How will you measure the goal? Measurement will give you specific feedback and hold you accountable.
Attainable
Goals should push you, but it is important that they are achievable.
Realistic
Is your goal and timeframe realistic for the goal you have established?
Timely
Do you have a timeframe listed in your goal? This helps you to be accountable and helps in motivation.
