A. Each employer is required to withhold the employee’s tax, and to pay the employer’s tax, on wages up to the maximum earnings base for the year. Consequently, if someone works for more than one employer during the year, the taxes paid may exceed the maximum payable for the year.
In this case, you are entitled to a refund of your overpayment, or the overpayment will be credited to your income tax for the year.
Your employers, however, are not entitled to any refund or credit.
